WA Democrats Launch Microsite to Inform Voters of Herrera Beutler’s Ties to Big Corporations
Jaime Herrera Beutler has taken nearly $1.7M in Corporate PAC Money

SEATTLE — As voters begin to tune in to the fiercely competitive race between Republican Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler and Democratic challenger Carolyn Long, the people of Southwest Washington deserve to know who has been funding Herrera Beutler’s re-election campaigns for the last decade. WhoBoughtJHB.com documents the nearly $1.7 million in corporate PAC contributions the Republican Congresswoman has taken in her decade in D.C. and offers a possible explanation as to why Herrera Beutler has consistently voted to advantage lobbyists and big corporations while neglecting her constituents’ needs.
The site specifically highlights contributions Herrera Beutler has accepted from the health insurance and pharmaceutical industries while voting more than 80 times to repeal the Affordable Care Act and opposing efforts to bring down prescription drug prices for people in Southwest Washington. During the middle of a pandemic responsible for the deaths of more than 180,000 Americans, no other issue could be as important to voters as access to affordable, quality health care.
“Our democracy relies on voters having accurate information about the records of their elected officials, and we think it’s important that people in Southwest Washington know where Jaime stands — and it isn’t with them,” said Tina Podlodowski, Chair of the Washington State Democratic Party. “We saw in 2018 that Herrera Beutler was willing to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on TV ads to mislead voters on her dozens of votes to strip health care from people with pre-existing conditions, so we’re doing everything we can to set the record straight before she tries the same tactic this fall.”
