WHOSE SIDE IS SHE ON ANYWAY: SMILEY BETWEEN TRUMP AND THE TRUTH
Mitch McConnell’s favorite Republican in Washington state is caught between Trump and the truth as the former President takes aim at Washington state’s top-ranking Republicans.
Seattle, WA — This week, former President Donald Trump announced his endorsement of Loren Culp who is running to unseat Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-Sunnyside). This shows the former President’s eagerness to jump into the fray here in Washington state to punish Representatives Newhouse and Jaime Herrera-Beutler (R- Battle Ground) for their votes to impeach after the January 6th insurrection — so that begs the question, whose side is GOP Senate candidate Tiffany Smiley on?
“It’s a pretty basic question that Washington state voters deserve to have answered – does Tiffany Smiley stand for truth and the rule of law or not?” said Washington State Democratic Party Chair Tina Podlodowski. “Does she believe the 2020 election was stolen like Donald Trump says it was or not? The disinformation coming from Donald Trump and the Republican Party about our elections is dangerous–you’re either helping spread those lies or fighting against them.”
Now that Donald Trump has officially taken aim at two of Washington state’s foremost Republicans, who does Tiffany Smiley stand with? Does she believe that Donald Trump should have been impeached and removed from office after the January 6th insurrection?
Or does Smiley stand with the Liar-in-chief Donald Trump and his handpicked candidates who continue to spread the Big Lie that the 2020 election was stolen? Smiley’s own campaign website already makes claims about how “the 2020 elections raised serious questions about the integrity of our elections” despite audit after audit supporting that the elections were fairly decided.
So far only Representatives Newhouse and Herrera-Beutler have been targeted by Donald Trump, but Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers might yet fall into the former President’s bad graces after contributing funds to both Herrera-Beutler and Michigan Rep. Fred Upton, who both voted to impeach.
Seattle Times: Trump endorses Loren Culp in challenge to WA Rep. Dan Newhouse, who voted for impeachment
“Continuing his revenge spree against Republicans who voted to impeach him for stoking the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, former President Donald Trump on Wednesday endorsed Loren Culp, the former Washington gubernatorial candidate and challenger to U.S. Rep. Dan Newhouse.”
KOIN6: Trump-backed candidate Joe Kent to challenge Jaime Herrera-Beutler
“President Trump is still very much the leader of the Republican Party and the America first movement,” said congressional candidate Joe Kent during his interview with KOIN6.
