Both Reichert and Gorsuch have used their power to strip women of their right to reproductive freedom
Seattle, WA – In addition to their unwavering commitment to convicted felon Donald Trump and stripping away women’s reproductive freedom, both MAGA gubernatorial candidate Dave Reichert and MAGA Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch share an August 29 birthday.
But considering their anti-abortion records, there’s not much to celebrate. In Congress, Reichert — who voted 92% of the time with Trump and has bragged about their close relationship — voted three times for nationwide abortion bans that would have criminalized doctors, including twice against amendments that would have added exceptions for a mother’s health. Gorsuch, nominated to the Supreme Court by Trump, played a crucial part in the tragic Dobbs decision that removed a woman’s right to an abortion, overturning nearly 50 years of legal precedent.
And while the MAGA Supreme Court has all but hinted that they’ll come for birth control access next, Reichert’s already shown he’ll go after it. In Congress, Reichert voted multiple times to restrict access to birth control, even voting against legislation that protected women from being fired at work for getting an abortion or using birth control.
“Today is a good reminder just how much Dave Reichert and Trump’s MAGA Supreme Court have in common,” said Shasti Conrad, chair of the WA State Democrats. “Fortunately, voters do have the power to deny Reichert the ability to impose his anti-abortion agenda on Washington, and come November, we will do just that.”
