Seattle, WA – This week, New York Magazine’s The Cut slammed MAGA Republicans, including Dave Reichert, for lying about their anti-abortion records and attempting to mislead voters.

According to the article, “Every one of these candidates has transparently shown voters who they are through their anti-abortion records and past remarks. Whatever sleight of hand they are attempting now isn’t ‘softening’ or ‘moderating’ at all, and voters shouldn’t buy the cynical rebrand.”

Over the last two months Reichert has gone out of his way to lie to voters about his anti-abortion record, denying the fact that he voted three times for national abortion bans that would criminalize doctors. In a desperate move, Reichert has even taken legal action to stop the truth from being told, even though he is literally on the roll call supporting anti-abortion legislation (see here, here, and here), including voting twice against amendments that would’ve added an exception for a mother’s health.

But you don’t have to look back to Reichert’s congressional record to know where he stands on restricting reproductive freedom. In April he held his first town hall in years with Firmly Planted Action, an extremist group that wants to “end abortion once and for all.” While there, Reichert told his supporters how they could “unravel” affordable abortion services – effectively pledging to use his power if elected governor to deny women access to reproductive health care.

“Dave Reichert can say anything he likes but he can’t hide his anti-abortion record,” said Shasti Conrad, chair of the WA State Democrats. “In this upcoming election, my message to voters is this: Reichert is an anti-abortion zealot who will stop at nothing to impose his extreme, out-of-touch agenda of restricting our rights and attacking our freedoms.”
