Chair Conrad Statement on Cortes Win in LD18

Seattle, WA – Today, Chair Shasti Conrad, released the following statement regarding Adrian Cortes’ victory in Legislative District 18 in southwest Washington:

“Today, we have confirmed that the Washington state legislature will add another devoted public servant to its ranks. Adrian Cortes, a tremendous public school teacher and Battleground City Councilmember will bring his strong leadership and deep community roots to Olympia as the new State Senator from the 18th Legislative District. 

“Adrian’s victory combined with Adison Richards’ win in the LD26 House election means that Democrats have flipped seats in the state legislature for five straight campaign cycles. Washington Democrats are committed to adding more voices to our legislative process who prioritize their communities and policies that lift up every Washingtonian. Congratulations to Adrian on his well deserved victory!”
