WA Dems Complete Reorganization: Chair Conrad Unanimously Re-Elected
Tacoma, WA – Today, Washington Democrats’ State Committee Members held their re-organization meeting kicking off a new term. At the meeting, State Committee Members unanimously re-elected Chair Shasti Conrad to lead the organization for a second two-year term.
Fresh off the best statewide performance of any Democratic Party in the nation, the Washington Democrats proved that progressive policies can win elections, defeating three conservative backed initiatives that would have rolled back the biggest progressive accomplishments of the past decade on climate change, long-term care for seniors, and adopting a fairer tax code. In 2024’s general election, Washington Democrats won every statewide office for the first time in a generation and expanded their majorities in the Washington Legislature for the fifth consecutive election.
“I am humbled and honored to receive the unanimous support of Washington Democrats to lead our Party,” said Chair Shasti Conrad. “As America grapples with the brutal reality of a second Trump administration, Washington Democrats are already positioned as the epicenter of the resistance to his unconstitutional and illegal overreach. We will be working around the clock to ensure victory in this year’s special elections to retain the Democrats appointed to state legislative seats and to prepare for next year’s mid-term elections while supporting our elected leaders in their efforts to bring down prices for Washington families, ensure safe communities, and protect our civil liberties.”
Chair Conrad was re-elected alongside the following Executive Board officers for the Washington State Democratic Party:
Chair: Shasti Conrad
Vice Chair: John Thompson
Secretary: Diane Young
Treasurer: David Green
The Washington State Democratic Party is committed to advancing progressive policy, empowering the grassroots, and ensuring Democratic victories up and down the ballot. Chair of the Washington Democrats, Shasti Conrad, is the first Indian-American woman to chair a major state party.
