9.13.24 Message from the Chair

Working for Washington

It was an eventful week for Washington State Democrats! Our Coordinated Campaign just surpassed 250,000 phone calls made and are close to 60,000 doors knocked. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help get our message to voters. If you still haven’t picked up a volunteer shift (why not?) and you’re feeling compelled to do it (you should!) you can find information at the bottom of this message to help us ensure Democratic victories up and down the ballot in November. Or just go ahead and sign up here!

This week’s presidential debate showed all of us what’s at stake in this election and that Vice President Kamala Harris is ready to lead on Day One to ensure a better future for every American. VP Harris unequivocally won the debate, baiting Trump into whining about crowd sizes and making nonsensical statements.

I want to thank the team at Rough & Tumble Pub for graciously hosting WA Dems’ debate watch party. Our Coordinated Campaign hosted watch parties in Seattle, Tacoma, Everett, Vancouver, Wenatchee, Yakima, Tri-Cities, and Spokane. Thank you to everyone who joined one of our events. We need your enthusiasm and energy as we enter the final sprint of the campaign.

The presidential debate wasn’t the only high-profile debate this week. Right after VP Harris mopped the floor with Donald Trump, Attorney General Bob Ferguson stood up against Dave Reichert to protect our rights and communities. Much like his preferred presidential candidate, Dave Reichert couldn’t help himself from lying throughout the debate. Meanwhile, Bob Ferguson outlined his plans to make our communities safer, protect our reproductive freedoms, and continue building a thriving economy in every corner of Washington.

This week, I also had the pleasure of attending Treasurer Mike Pelliciotti’s annual luncheon. Mike outlined his vision for a future where every child has a savings account devoted to pursuing higher education or skills training and every Washingtonian, no matter their employer, has access to a retirement savings account.
